Highland Health Plan
Since Donald McGregor founded our practice in 1965, we’ve used our privileged position as the vets of Caithness and Sutherland to provide the highest levels of care for your pets.
Proudly independent and locally managed, we’re free to take decisions in the best interests of our patients. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our new Highland Health Plan, which includes unlimited vet and nurse consults for your beloved cats and dogs.
We’re excited to introduce this innovative take on health plans that will allow us to provide the very best care for your pet.
Pets on the plan
For just £24 a month, dogs and cats who join our Unlimited Highland Health Plan can book in to see our team whenever they need during our regular opening hours, as well as receiving unlimited nail clips and other nursing services, and with a range of primary health care needs thrown in too.
Alternatively, you could join our Highland Health Plan Standard, which at £18 per month ensures annual routine preventative care as well as a range of further perks and offers.
Both of our plans include parasite prevention tailored by our decades of experience working in the unique and beautiful rural landscape of the Highlands.
Unlimited Highland Health Plan members receive a range of further discounts, including 20% off dental care, 20% off neutering and free insurance claim processing.
We’ve thought long and hard about what to include in our Highland Health Plan, and believe that the following will provide your pet with the best possible service:

You can enroll as many of your pets as you like. And if different plans suit each of them better, that’s perfectly fine too – each pet can have the plan that meets their needs best.
Absolutely, our plan is designed to work alongside pet insurance. It covers routine essentials like vaccinations, health checks and parasite prevention, which are often not included in insurance. We still recommend pet insurance to help with unexpected costs, like treatment for illnesses, surgeries, or advanced diagnostics, ensuring your pet is covered for all scenarios.
Yes, just speak with our friendly reception team and they’ll assist you in making the switch. If you’re moving to a more basic plan, you may need to settle any balance for services or products already provided to your pet – but our team can explain everything when you talk to them.
Our plan is a 12-month commitment, and it’s not transferable to other practices. If you’re moving within the area, both our Wick and Thurso branches are covered by the plan. Should you need to cancel early, we’ll simply review your account, and if the cost of the products and services received exceeds what you’ve paid so far, we’ll discuss a fair settlement with you.
We know you want to give your pet the best care, but you can’t always predict when they will need the vet. That makes budgeting for vet care a real challenge.
We’ve built our Highland Health Plan to give you access to exceptional care for your pet, whilst also helping you budget and avoid paying more than you need to.
